Me? Alumnus? Naw...
Yeah, I guess it actually happened. "Surreal" was the word of the day yesterday. I kept telling myself: "This is it. You are graduating right now. Not somebody else. Not later. You. Now." And I could still barely accept what was happening. I actually felt like a fraud, leading someone else's life. Maybe its because I barely squeaked by to graduate on time, or maybe its because I've actually dreaded graduating college since, well, when I first got there. I don't dread it as much now, since I actually have a plan for my post-undergrad career, which I didn't as a freshman. As soon as I am able to settle down on a law school, I'm positive that any dread or uncertainty will wash away with the tide of new opportunities.
That ending was way too poetic. Bleh.
Anyway, hopefully my search will narrow during this little trip my dad has planned. My parents and I are driving north to visit Widener, Penn State, New England and, pointlessly, Western New England. Also, somehow the schedule gods out there have blessed us with the chance to see the Red Sox play in three different cities on our 8-day trip: Baltimore on the 17th, Philadelphia on the 19th, and Boston (vs. the Yankees) on the 22nd. We also may even be able to squeeze in Mets/Yankees in Shea Stadium on the 20th. I have to remind myself this trip isn't supposed to be about baseball.
Hopefully, between all the campuses and ballparks, I will able to remember my own birthday on the 18th.
Finally, one last thank you to each and every one of my friends who managed to put up with me for four years. I will remember the Caribbean cruise, Daytona, Carowinds, spades, weekend movies, Halo, Cookout, Benson at 6/Benson at 6:30/The Pit at 7, Wake games and everything else way better than any divisional course, and I'm not so sure that's a bad thing. The next time we all see each other again won't be soon enough.
PS- My graduation and commencement pictures are now up. Please post yours or send them to me at locke518 at gmail.com.
