Rapid Fire: Deacons Going Hollywood?
Filmmaker eyes Abbate family story. Can I play the part of Riley Skinner?
David Beckham. $250 million for 5 years. $50 million a year. $1 million a week. Has a single player ever been paid more than the worth of the entire league?
Widener's internet server finally took yahoo.com off their blacklist. I had been unable to move players on my fantasy team because I couldn't sign into my yahoo account. The nightmare is over.
Barnes & Noble (my home away from home away from home) has a great deal going on right now: buy one TV box set and get a second one FREE. Yesterday I bought Seasons 1 and 2 of Scrubs for $45. Deal ends January 31st.
I remember reading an article in SI several years ago where a writer thought Mark McGwire would be the first unanimous selection into the Hall of Fame. Didn't quite work out.
I think I'll see Children of Men tomorrow afternoon. I gots a three-day weekend anyway.

So how sweet is it to be a Gator fan right now?
I have yet to hear anyone mention this, so let me be the unofficial first: the University of Florida is a few minutes away from being the reigning champion in both football and men's basketball.
Has this ever happened before? Is it possible for Gator fans to comprehend how fortunate they are? Has the Tennessee government declared a state-wide suicide watch?
So many questions...

Oh yeah. I'm back in Delaware. Joy.

The Day After: Still and Always Proud to be a Deacon
Maybe its me. Wake goes 11-3, but 0-2 in the games I attend. Just go ahead and blame me for the Orange Bowl loss. I should have taken my cue from the Virginia Tech game. My bad.
Still, it goes without saying that Wake Forest winning the ACC Championship and earning a trip to the Orange Bowl is a remarkable achievement. We've come along way. It was only a few years ago that I considered going to the Aloha or Seattle Bowl to be a really big deal. Now I would be positively disappointed with a similar result next season. Hopefully I will go to school closer to home in the fall and be able to see our now-successful team actually win a game.
As an aside, the non-football highlight of the game was the three fighter planes scorching right above the stadium after the National Anthem. Any of my words would fall woefully short of capturing how awe-inspiring that sight was, but suffice it to say that the only thing anyone could think to say was "Wow."
